About Karen

Karen Walton
Certified Bowen Therapist with the European College of Bowen Studies (ECBS)
Member of the Bowen Therapists European Register (MBTER)

My passion for animals started me on my Bowen journey. My first experience of Bowen was on a horse that was suffering from Lymphangitis where his legs were filled and very uncomfortable. During the treatment the horse went in to a deep state of relaxation, dropped his head almost to the floor with a big sigh and he stayed like this for most of the treatment. I visited him the following day; his legs had improved greatly, the fluid had almost drained away and he was much brighter in himself. It was at that moment I decided I needed to become a Bowen practitioner. Working with humans, horses, dogs and cats is very rewarding and Bowen can create some amazing changes to the body.

I studied with the European College of Bowen Studies and Equine College of Bowen Studies and I have been qualified for over 10 years, but my learning hasn’t stopped there. I regularly attend courses and conferences to develop my skills and find out as much as I can about how the body functions.

Case Study

I was first introduced to Bowen after an accident with my horse resulting in a bruised coccyx and very painful neck. Karen started treating me with Bowen a few days after the accident.

After the first treatment my neck pain eased considerably. However, it was after the second treatment that I became a Bowen convert. My coccyx was so badly bruised that I couldn't bend down to pick up anything - you don't realise just how much you bend (even slightly) during the course of a day until you have a coccyx injury!

Two days after my second Bowen treatment, I was able to bend, pick up things without pain and I've never looked back - that was 3 years ago. Karen doesn't just treat me, my horse has Bowen too - he feels more balanced and relaxed after each session as do I ! Thank you so much Karen and Bowen.
